This fascinating and instructive book about animals from the “golden fund” of pre-revolutionary children's literature was written by naturalist A. L. Yashchenko in the form of the memoirs of the main character - a rat named Khrup. Extraordinary curiosity forced Khrup to go on long journeys, where dangerous adventures awaited him at every step. The rat, endowed by the author with the ability for subtle observations and interesting thoughts, talks about the lands where she happened to visit, about the habits of birds and animals, about the habits of man and his relationships with his smaller brothers. Memoirs is a reprint of a book published in 1903 in St. Petersburg. The spelling and punctuation of the text are close to modern ones. The artists' drawings and autotypes are reproduced from the first edition.
