Barbara Rosek's diary is a piercing reminder in its documentation that drug addiction is a reality that society cannot and does not have the right to brush aside. Barbara Rosek is no longer in the world. The first page of her diary begins with the words: “I am a drug addict. I am 18 years old. Four years ago I injected myself with a drug syringe for the first time,” and in the last entry we read: “I turned 21 years old. This damn life needs love. Without it there is an eternal emptiness that kills, strangles, torments. I have to leave, I can’t live like this, without hope, without meaning. I ruined myself... I will die alone in this strange apartment, the senseless death of a drug addict.” Between these two dates, a few dozen pages contained a whole life, very short, but full of despair, fears and endless questions, and most importantly, loneliness.
