Widow Kay Partridge moves with her young daughter Evie to Yorkshire. They occupy a small annex on the territory of the ancient Wintergill estate, whose owners - Nora Snowden and her son Nick - are on the verge of bankruptcy and therefore rent out rooms during the winter holidays. Kay hopes that she has found a quiet refuge, but something inexplicable happens in the house every now and then, and in the surrounding area, they say, there are ghosts... Left unattended, Evie is determined to go into the thicket of the forest to look for the real Christmas, while Nick, meanwhile, realizes that Vulnerable Kay Partridge makes him want to surround her with warmth and care.
