“Song...” is a poetic historical chronicle dedicated to the 1209 crusade against the Provençal Albigensian heretics. The publication contains a translation of the first part, written by Guillem of Tudela in Provençal (Occitan) language parallel to the events and brought to the middle of 1213. The development of events is described almost day by day and hour by hour. The chronicle is especially valuable because the author communicated with direct participants in the campaign, indicating informants. Svetlana Likhacheva, who prepared a Russian poetic translation with her colleagues, set herself the goal of accurately reproducing the size and rhyme system of the original with all its features, as well as maintaining equilinearity. An attempt has been made to maintain the author's style and not embellish the original. To convey the national and historical flavor, translators in most cases give preference to the Occitan versions of names and geographical names. The publication is equipped with an extensive commentary.
