Nio Marsh (1895–1982) was the brightest star of the “golden age” of English detective fiction, author of 32 novels and many plays. Her name ranks with such recognized classics of the genre as Agatha Christie and Dorothy L. Sayers. For her literary achievements she was awarded the title of Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire. Representatives of the eccentric Lampri family are hospitable, friendly, sweet - and always sitting without money. But don’t be discouraged: there will always be someone from whom you can ask for a loan. For example, a rich uncle. However, this time something went wrong - and Uncle Gabriel was found murdered. And Inspector Alleyn will have to figure out which member of the “dearest” family sent the old bore to the next world...
