The book by literary and theater critic Natalia Staroselskaya tells about the life and creative path of one of the last classics of Russian Soviet literature of the 20th century, Veniamin Aleksandrovich Kaverin (1902–1989), whose life passed against the backdrop of turbulent, sharply changing events for almost the entire century. Kaverin remains popular today, primarily thanks to his novel “Two Captains,” which was twice filmed. His other works have been filmed more than once - “The Fulfillment of Desires”, “Open Book”, “The Nemukhin Musicians” (based on the cycle of fairy tales “The Night Watchman, or Seven Entertaining Stories ...”), which have not lost their relevance to this day. Kaverin worked in many genres - he wrote stories, tales, fairy tales, plays, essays, memoirs, in particular about the literary association of the 1920s–1930s “Serapion Brothers”, to which he belonged. Fate brought him together with wonderful people - M. Gorky, Evg. Schwartz, M. M. Zoshchenko, Yu. N. Tynyanov and many others. The legacy of Veniamin Kaverin still attracts today with its unusual plots, real facts, accuracy of depiction of characters, excellent style and language. sign of information products 16+
