The book includes previously unpublished translations of works in Russia that were fundamental to him - The Idea of a Christian Society (1939), Notes on the definition of the concept of “culture” (1948), essays on Virgil, Dante, Machiavelli, Pascal, Goethe, Baudelaire, E. Poe, E. Pound, English literature - from Shakespeare, Donne, Dryden to Swinburne.
