Surzhikov was incredibly lucky: he was the only one from the entire design bureau who was sent on a business trip to Japan. At first they said that three people would go, but then one unit was reduced, and another was taken away by the Ministry of Culture. Abroad, Surzhikov proved himself to be a true Soviet person, reliable and morally stable, so he was also entrusted with providing international assistance to the developing Holodand.
