First half of the 15th century. War between England and France. France is going through difficult, dark times due to the division among the nobility. Two warring clans, the Armagnacs and the Burgundians, are fighting for power, posing a threat to the independence of the state. Thomas Montagu, Earl of Salisbury, becomes her most dangerous enemy. His father rebelled against Henry IV of Lancaster, who overthrew Richard II Plantagenet. The rebellion was brutally suppressed, Salisbury's father was killed. Thomas was exiled, stripped of his title and possessions, and vowed revenge. When Thomas grew up, Henry IV died and the new king of England, Henry V, decides to forgive the sons of the rebellious lords. The Earl of Salisbury returned to court, “swearing allegiance, concealing his anger.” Having conceived a plan to seize power, he convinces the king to invade France. During the war, a circle of English nobility forms around the undefeated Salisbury, who want to see Him as king of France and England. The struggle for power intensifies after the death of Henry V. The leader of the Lancasters becomes Henry Beaufort, Bishop of Winchester, who wants to destroy the Earl of Salisbury by any means. He longed to gain centuries-old glory, but was undeservedly forgotten.
