A young emigrant from Russia, researcher and philosopher Arthur Salmio, living in the Helsinki suburb of Vanta, receives an e-mail from an unknown Albanian sender demanding to provide him with a certain “formula of creation”. Not understanding what they are talking about, Arthur soon learns about the murder of the sender, as well as his librarian friend, who knew about the letter. Feeling that an invisible ring is closing around him, Arthur flees from Finland to Sweden. Constantly feeling that he is being watched, Arthur unexpectedly meets in Stockholm a stranger from Yugoslavia, who calls himself the half-brother of a murdered Albanian.
