The action of the novel dates back to the 1st century AD. e. - the time of the formation of Christianity; the events full of drama described in it are associated with the cup from which Jesus drank during the Last Supper, and among the participants in the events were the holy apostles. The main character is a young sculptor from Antioch, Basil. The doctor Luke, known to us as the Apostle Luke, brings him to the house of Joseph of Arimathea, where the cup from which Christ himself drank during the last supper with the apostles is kept. Basil is commissioned to frame the holy cup - thus begins the odyssey of the sculptor and the cup, pursued by fanatical Jews and Romans. A young man with many adventures travels through the entire vast Roman Empire, meeting friends and enemies along the way, avoiding many dangers and meeting love, and finds true faith. The action takes place in Palestine, Jerusalem, and Rome. The plot organically combines fictional characters and historical figures - Nero, the magician Simon from Gitta, the apostles John, Peter and Luke.
