Jerome Klapka Jerome (1859–1927) was a remarkable English satirist who had boundless love of life, optimism and observation. He is the author of many wonderful humorous works, among which “The Book of Idle Thoughts of an Idle Man” occupies one of the best and most honorable places. Funny lines about philosophy, politics, economics, culture and psychology, parody the fashionable “Reflections” and “ Experiments." However, they were written not on behalf of a great thinker, but on behalf of an idle English gentleman, who dedicated the book to the best friend of his evil and good days, every day thickening around the author the “atmosphere of his devotion” - to his “old aged pipe”. This book includes all three a collection of “idle thoughts”, sometimes published separately.
