The most popular Serbian Orthodox writer today, Ljiljana Habjanovic-Djurovic, was born in 1953 in the city of Krusevac in Central Serbia. Graduated from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Belgrade. She worked as a bank employee, a commercial agent and a journalist. At the same time, she tried her hand at the literary field, publishing three novels and a book of journalism. Since 1996, she devoted herself entirely to literary work. This time dates back to the appearance of books that brought the writer wide fame at home and abroad: “Women’s Genealogy” (1996), “Peacock Feather” (1999), “Petkana” (2001), “Dance of Angels” (2003), “Joy to all who mourn” (2005). The undisputed favorite of readers and critics was her novel “Petkana”, which tells about the earthly life of the Venerable Paraskeva-Petka (11th century, Memorial Day October 14/27). The novel “Petkana”, which we present to the Russian reader, has gone through 21 (!) official publications in its country in just a few years, not counting unofficial ones. In addition to traditional literary awards, Ljiljana Habjanovic-Djurovic became a six-time winner of the Golden Bestseller Award and three times awarded the Special Golden Bestseller.
