The novels of the American writer Gordon Dixon are united by a common feature: the hero of each work is a brave earthling, fighting for the well-being of his native civilization. The three-meter giants inhabiting the planet Dilbiya are not at all like humans (“Dispatching from Outer Space”). Humanity is trying to establish friendly contacts with them, but the lack of mutual understanding prevents this. To resolve the next conflict, you need a person with the agility of an acrobat and the patience of a saint. The choice fell on John Tardy. Acting here with intelligence and resourcefulness, and sometimes with strength and dexterity, the earthling forces the Dilbyans to change their opinion about people. Felits was, in essence, the most ordinary person (“The Illusory World”). But it was he who managed to find an effective means of protecting earthly civilization from the encroachments of space aliens-telepaths. Moreover, the defense did not require multi-billion dollar subsidies, since everyone has this method of protection... Due to the overpopulation of the planet, earthlings are forcibly deported to distant colonies, leaving them without support and protection ("Space Patrol"). The troops of the highly developed aggressive civilization Meda V'Dan, roaming the universe, take advantage of this. A resident of one of the colonies, Mark Roose, having miraculously survived the next raid of the aggressors, decides to put an end to this. But, oddly enough, the most difficult battles await him on Earth. Contents: A parcel from space (translation by A. Bulatov) The Illusory World (translation by A.
