We are accustomed to considering depression as a whim, anxiety disorder as a problem, the mentally ill as dangerous aliens, and psychiatric clinics as prisons with a particularly sophisticated detention system. But in reality, everything is not so scary and hopeless, and mental illness is an imbalance of chemicals in the brain, and not far-fetched “excuses” and not a dangerous “obsession.” Why do I say this so confidently? My name is Ksyusha. I'm 25 years old and I can't cope with my own life. Doctors call it "recurrent depression" and "borderline personality disorder." I went to a psychiatric clinic of my own free will. I tried to tell my story as sincerely and in detail as possible in the hope that I could at least slightly change the attitude of our society towards mental disorders. A diagnosis is not a stigma. By introducing the reader to hospital patients, I want to destroy the stigma of psychiatry and prove that “crazy people” are not alien to the “normal” world.
