Dear readers! Here are the cell notes of Archbishop Anthony (Golynsky-Mikhailovsky), an ascetic of the 20th century who experienced the path of prayer. The work was written in the late 50s for a narrow circle of like-minded people. That was a time when there was an absolute shortage of spiritual literature in our country and such texts were rare even in “samizdat”. But it seems that even today, with all the accessibility of ascetic writings, this work may be of interest to those who are driven by the desire to join the prayer tradition of the fathers of the Orthodox Church. The book, based on personal experience, presents the patristic tradition about smart work, and summarizes the teaching of the ascetic fathers about the Jesus Prayer, about the action of God's grace.
