“The Gospel Story” is the most famous work of Pavel Alekseevich Matveevsky (1828–1900), a spiritual writer, archpriest, master of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy. The first edition was published in 1890. The book provides a sequential account of the earthly life of Jesus Christ. Interpretations by P.A. Matveevsky are taken mainly from the works of the Holy Fathers of the Church. The work is of great interest from the point of view of the completeness of the presentation of the dogmatic teaching about Christ and the rich material of sacred texts and their interpretations collected in it. The first book included the initial events of the Gospel history that took place in Jerusalem and Judea.
