The genre of Maria Galina's new book is difficult to determine. It would be tempting to call this work a novel in verse, but a novel still presupposes a certain plot, and here the reader is free to offer his own versions of events, his own interpretation of what is happening. This poetic narrative, according to the author’s own definition, is “not a mirror, but fragments of a mirror; each shows a complete picture, but since the angles of reflection are different, the picture in each of the fragments turns out to be slightly different. Or completely different. Between these luminous fragments there is darkness, absorbing the rays.”
