Post-war outskirts of Novosibirsk in 1949. Former investigator Sergei Letov, who served a sentence for the murder of civilians liberated from the German occupation of territories, returns to his native region. Soon, residents of the Pervomaisky district begin to be systematically killed by a bloody maniac, and Letov, as an investigator, is involved in his capture. Together with his front-line friend Gorenshtein, Letov has to go through a difficult path to the end of the investigation, constantly struggling with a serious illness that he acquired during the war. “The Breaking Point” is the darkness that emerges from the descriptions of the poor life of post-war Novosibirsk and the cold Siberian winter, a gradual veil of madness that captures the heads of the main characters and dances on the ruins of the lives of those who did not survive the war, but were born again.
