Finland, as part of the Russian Empire, had enormous autonomy for a long time. On the monument to Alexander II in Helsinki, “1863” is engraved, the year in which Finnish became the official language in the Grand Duchy of Finland. However, Russification at the beginning of the 20th century. caused an unprecedented explosion of anti-Russian sentiment, and in 1918 the Red Finns lost the Civil War. Thus ended the century of “Russian history” of Finland... This book for the first time restores in all details the revolutionary events of 1917 and the fighting of the Civil War in Finland. Russification under Nicholas II and the biographies of the main participants in the Finnish revolution are examined in detail. The author puts forward an innovative hypothesis about the reasons for the non-socialist policies of the Finnish revolutionary authorities. The book clearly shows the unusual nuances of the separation of Finland from Russia, the cruelest terror against the Reds and Russians, including the ethnic cleansing of the Russian-speaking population of Vyborg, as well as the starting points that set the vector for all future Russophobic Finnish politics.
