The collection “Eyewitnesses of Immortality” includes two books - “Three Days and Three Nights in the Underworld” by P. Quiroson (Canada) and “The Transition” by P. Kalinovsky (Australia). Both books are dedicated to the immortal existence of the soul, both were written by Russian emigrants. Pantes Kiroson (Stepan Sorokin?) tried to escape from the USSR in 1931, was captured by GPU agents and beaten to death (as they say now, “to the point of clinical death”). The soul of the unfortunate man spent three days in the afterlife, contemplating there either ominous or hopeful pictures. Upon returning to the “three-day body,” the soul not only brought him back to life, but also inspired Kiroson with the determination to tell the world about what he saw, which he did - with the spontaneity, authenticity and scope of a medieval fresco. Pyotr Kalinovsky successfully combines in his book the erudition of a scientist with spiritual rootedness of an Orthodox believer. “The Transition” is a heartfelt essay on the history of the new science of thanatology, as well as a real contribution to this science, known to the Russian reader from the works of Seraphim Rose, R. Moody, E. Kübler-Ross, M. Sabom and others.
