This is a collection of prayerfully inspired thoughts from Fr. Ioanna compiles his last diary, written in 1907-1908. Entrusting the editorship of his diary, Fr. John called his new diary “The Living Ear.” It is difficult to describe Father’s sincere joy about his new publication and his delight at the title of the diary he himself gave. This joy of a zealous worker in God’s field will find a distant resemblance to the joy of a plowman bent over by work, who sees the promising fruit of his continuous labors. His work is a “living ear,” because his seed is the “verbs of eternal life,” the word of God; this is a “living ear”, because every grain taken with faith from this “ear” will be the beginning of a new life in God. The pure joy of Father, who worked for 53 years with prayer and tears to plant and water the grains of God and was consoled by the consciousness of the eternity of his labors, is understandable.

Finally, the last chapter contains thoughts in which Father speaks about his spiritual mood, about the fight against the enemy of salvation, about the desire for God, wants to quickly “see Him, the desired, all-good, beautiful, all-blessed, immortal Father and Master, to worship Him personally ", to glorify and thank God for 79 years of life and for 53 years of priesthood, for sorrows and consolations, for God's forbearance and perfect forgiveness in repentance, especially for the most holy sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ, in one word - "to thank God for everything, for everything !"

This diary is like a comforting spiritual testament left by dear Father to all sincerely believing people who, by faith in God and the Holy Church, want to save their soul. Father’s penetrating gaze is most focused on deepening our consciousness into the meaning of the fall of man and his redemption by the Son of God; how to join Christ, and in Him to partake of eternal blissful life - this is what Fr. teaches. John, in his last work, teaches, of course, according to the instructions of the Word of God and the Holy Church and according to his own spiritual feat, the goal of which was this most blissful union with Christ.
