World order based on reason determines the policies of states. This involves data collected and analyzed by an independent expert community, which is trusted by all citizens. This was the political ideal that philosophers have dreamed of since the 17th century. Everything has changed, and today people have little faith in the experience and neutrality of scientists. Emotions have begun to rule the world. Now they indicate the direction of policy. How and why did this happen? Why did politics become so capricious and militant? What does this promise us? These and other questions are answered by William Davis, a professor of political economy, sociologist, teaching at Goldsmiths College, University of London.
