The sources of Rus', in which, perhaps, its misunderstood secret is hidden, were sought among the cold rocks of Scandinavia, and in the endless Scythian steppes, unpredictable in their freewheeling passionarity, and in Belarusian Polesie, and even in Asia Minor, in the great Hittite Empire. The author of the book is Sergei Lesnoy (Sergei Yakovlevich Paramonov), a Russian emigrant who experienced the tragedy of Russian history of the 20th century, devotes his research to a little-studied period in the history of Ancient Rus' - the pre-Oleg time. The author pays a lot of attention to the analysis of materials related to the so-called “Vlesovaya Book” - the chronicle of pagan Rus'. In his work, the scientist defends the existence of a truly Slavic statehood and culture of Ancient Rus' and proves the inconsistency of the Norman theory.
