The book is compiled from articles and lectures by Lama Ole Nydahl and his wife Hannah Nydahl, published over the past 25 years in various Buddhist publications. The articles are organized into three sections - in accordance with the "three pillars" on which Buddhist practice traditionally rests: "View", "Meditation" and "Action". The texts in the “View” section are devoted to the philosophical foundations of Buddhism: emptiness, relative and absolute truth, various issues of knowledge transfer. The second section presents the foundation and conditions of Buddhist meditation leading to liberation and enlightenment; describes meditation techniques to calm the mind and recognize its nature. Under the heading "Action," Lama Ole and Hannah offer advice on how the modern Buddhist practitioner can maintain and weave into everyday experience the states of peace and clarity that he achieves in meditation. Classic themes such as the Six Liberating Actions, tantric initiations, and different levels of vows are deeply explored here. The final article, “Standing on Your Feet,” provides essential instructions on how we can enrich our lives and imbue them with timeless meaning. Translation: N. Yudina, A. Morozova, Elena Leontyeva, A. Sokolov
