The life of the main character of the novel by the young historian Yegor Chursin, like all the other characters, is closely connected with reality. Coming from a simple peasant family, after graduating from university, he makes truly grandiose plans to realize his creative abilities in a huge country called the USSR. Years pass, and the hero becomes convinced of the naivety of his dreams. Honest and talented people are alien to society. The “troubler” comes under party pressure.
