In 2004–2005, Dina Rubina traveled a lot. The result of this are numerous short stories, travel sketches, and novellas. The genius of the place and the talent of the writer are united in them in such a wondrous unity that we see that rare and in most cases impossible unity of souls, the result of which is always birth. The birth of a new point on the world map, the birth of a new emotion in the space of the soul, the birth of a new geographical name in literature. Perhaps in Russian literature there is no equal to Dina Rubina in her mastery of poetic formulas of cities, towns, countries, national languages: Dutch - “short, chopped sounds - the crunch of ship masts, the knock of axes, the coughing of tired carpenters”, German - “soft, full-voiced, rumbling - sometimes pointed and spiers, sometimes entwining the tongue with a serpentine, sometimes running away into the future, sometimes rounded and curly like a curl - a whole swarm of fluttering butterflies in the larynx! – a superbly orchestrated language.”
