In 1967, three neighboring states - Egypt, Syria and Jordan - began a blockade of Israel and moved troops to its borders with the goal of completely destroying the Jewish state along with its inhabitants. To prevent its own destruction, Israel launched a preemptive strike and, as a result of the Six-Day War, occupied the historical Jewish lands in the hands of the enemy - Judea, Samaria (Shomron), Gaza and the Golan Heights - as well as the Sinai Peninsula, which was returned to Egypt in 1977. While the ruling circles of Israel hoped to use these territories as bargaining chips in order to sign peace treaties with Arab governments, religious youth and simply people who did not want to again find themselves in mortal danger began to re-inhabit the lands gained in battle. Thus began the settlement movement, as a result of which hundreds of new yishuvs - settlements - emerged. Contrary to how it was described in the Soviet and leftist press, the authorities did their best to prevent this movement. In 1993, an agreement was signed between the Israeli government, headed by Yitzhak Rabin and the chairman of the Arab terrorist organization Fatah, Yasser Arafat, according to which the Arabs received autonomy with its subsequent development into the Palestinian state. It was understood that over time the Yishuvs would be destroyed and the Jews would be evicted. But, having created Autonomy, Arafat began a war against Israel in 2000, which went down in history as the Al-Aqsa intifada. It is in the midst of this war that the events described take place, most of which actually took place.
