This novel was written by a man whose real name is known to very few. Max Varm, aka Maxim Teply, is the operational pseudonym of an illegal intelligence officer who spent most of his life abroad. It is not often that a person who has completed such a career continues to live in his own country in conditions of deep secrecy. So, alas, we do not have to count on the fact that in the novel the author lifted the veil over the secrets he kept.... This provocative novel was written in the car, in which, in addition to the intriguing plot, one finds an “unconcealed”, moderately ironic, and in places a very sharp look at the modern political life of the country. The author deliberately tickles the nerves of everyone involved in the intelligence services or involved in politics. His politicians are bright and often recognizable. This is at the same time a fictional novel, interesting because at some point you stop understanding where the description of real events and characters gives way to the author’s crafty fiction. And, finally, this is an action novel, molded according to the classical laws of this entertaining genre. True, with one exception: the ending of the novel leaves many questions, I want to ask: “What’s next?”
