To be able to avoid death is, perhaps, one of those dreams that will never cease to attract people. But there may be other, even directly opposite, passions. An unusual story from the pen of Alain Dartevel will tell us about this. He was born in 1951 in Mons, Belgium, first studied journalism at the Free University of Brussels, and then studied political science and management sciences at U.C.I. in Luve-la-Noive. His first novel, Borgou l'un Monstre (Borg, or the Agony of a Monster), was published in 1983. Since then, Alain Dartevel has published eight more novels and about fifty short stories and is today considered the best science fiction writer in Belgium. His most famous novels are Script, published in 1989, set in a world where the written word can act like a drug; lmago, published in 1994, is a portrait of Sigmund Freud on the line between genius and madman; and “La Chasse au Spectre” released in 2000. Along with this, Alain Dartevel wrote for teenagers and young adults. Alain Dartevel says about his writing that it was “stolen from the time” that belonged to his other professional activities, and considers Philip K. Dick and Louis-Ferdinand Céline as models for himself. In the following story, he takes us on a journey through time to an era that, perhaps like no other, became decisive for the history of Europe: the era of the French Revolution... (A. Eschbach)
