Leo Lucas was born in 1959 in West Styria, Austria. He studied theology in Graz, but eventually abandoned this pursuit to devote himself to journalistic and artistic activities. Since then, he has tirelessly continued to do what he loved, living at times in Munich, Havana and Edinburgh, but mainly in Vienna. Since 1978, an endless stream of reports, caustic notes, comments and the like has continued in several newspapers and magazines. Also, since 1978, Leo Lucas has been writing sketches, and now it is impossible to imagine him without a stage. Since 1988, he has also written plays for the theater and musicals, the latest of which are “Schweik” (Orpheum, Graz) and “Lara and Luke” (Raimunt Theater, Vienna); in 2002, “One Eden Once” (Musical Theater, Güssing) and “Panda Panda” (Cabaret Niedermayr, Vienna) were staged for the first time. In addition, Leo Lucas has been involved in directing from time to time. Along with this, he writes novels. In 1998, the first novel “Shadowrun” appeared, which was nominated for the German Science Fiction Prize and has now been republished twice. In 2000, the novel Jörgi, the Dragon Slayer, illustrated by Gerhard Haderer, was published, a caustic satire on Austrian politics, a bestseller in the true sense of the word, and in 2001 it was awarded the Golden Book Prize. However, Leo Lucas became known to science fiction fans primarily due to the fact that for several years now he has been one of the authors of the “Perry Rodan” series, which owes him very original and original works. Without any doubt, Leo Lucas is first and foremost a comedian. For the fact that from time to time he also deals with science fiction - special thanks to him. What jokes can there be when the Sun goes out in just a few billion years? Not to mention the monstrous, inevitable collapse of the entire Universe. Leo Lucas shows us which ones. And that sometimes laughter is the only thing left for a person, also because of such prospects. Even if we laugh at ourselves and at how we allow ourselves to be intimidated by our own ideas.
