Thanassis Vembos was born in Athens in 1963, studied public health and computer programming, and currently works as a journalist, science fiction author, translator and paranormal investigator. He wrote hundreds of articles, translated dozens of other people's books and wrote almost a dozen of his own. Five non-fiction books explore the relationship between Greek myths and paranormal phenomena. They talk about fairies, UFOs, conspiracies, strange deaths, mass hysteria, group suicides, geomantic marks on the surface of the earth and ley lines of hidden energies, magical architecture, initiation sites and other holy places. In his book “Star Wars - Chronicle of a Chimera,” Thanassis Vembos, back in 1997, presciently writes that the American interactive project CD1 could experience a new incarnation due to growing terrorism around the world. Vembos lives in Athens, but constantly travels around the world “in search of forgotten mysteries, hidden places of power and secrets of the soul of Gaia,” as he himself says. His publications in the field of science fiction include two collections of short stories and a novel. The stories are about high-tech and cyberspace, about the restructuring of man, about global disasters and about a society that is torn by the shock of the future. In his 1999 novel “Der Jahrestag”, it is not the Soviet Union that experiences collapse, but the West, and when the world-dominant USSR in 2017, in honor of the hundredth anniversary of its existence, sends the first expedition to Mars with people on board, among the states of the Pacific Ocean, a coalition is formed that wants to create a counterweight to the Soviet empire. This novel received the "Graham Still Preis 2000" as the best novel of the year, as well as the "Goldenen Icaromennipus Preis 2000". So we should not be surprised that the world we are about to plunge into will turn out to be a maddened information society, in which everything is determined by an unquenchable thirst information and which is feverish with drugs, sex and violence. And this fever never ends and cannot end, because the world has become too terrible to bear on a sober head. Here we follow a man who is not at all what he seems at first glance - a man with a completely insane goal... What if it was possible to trade in memories? Buying and selling a person's own self? The possibility of technical use of our spirit - or part of it - can lead, as we will now see, to even more gloomy prophecies. (A. Eshbach)
