The book “Vatican Folk Tales” is an attempt to continue the literary tradition of Edward Lear, Lewis Carroll, and Daniil Kharms. Fairy tales are entirely the product of the author’s imagination. A joke is the main tool with which the author processes his material. The action takes place in the conventional “chronotope” of a fairy tale, or, in other words, nowhere and never. The vast Vatican power is illusory: it has a center (the Vatican) and a continuous periphery, be it a dense forest, endless prairies, inaccessible mountains - it doesn’t matter - where the plot of the next fairy tale unfolds, where the Vatican heroes go to perform their exploits, and where the heroes come from anti-Vatican. The book is intended for a wide range of readers (and the author secretly hopes for this wide circle), and has no age restrictions (except natural ones).
