Faina Georgievna Ranevskaya, née Feldman (1896–1984), is a great Russian actress. Three-time winner of the Stalin Prize, People's Artist of the USSR. “I am the daughter of a poor oil industrialist from Taganrog,” Ranevskaya said about herself. Fufa the Magnificent - that’s what her friends and relatives called her. The great actress was incredibly sharp, even angry-tongued; she organically could not stand vulgarity and philistinism in life, let alone the theater, which she fanatically served all her life. Faina Ranevskaya began writing memoirs commissioned by one of the Soviet publishing houses, but in the end she left this activity, justifying your decision as follows: “You will burn through the money, but the shame will remain.” This book contains bit by bit memories of the great actress of her colleagues and friends, her statements - ironic and angry, sad and lyrical, letters from the actress, the addressees of which were Anna Akhmatova, Marina Tsvetaeva, Osip Mandelstam.
