This time, Dr. Danilov, at the request of his superiors, is trying to establish the cause of the high mortality rate in the department of anesthesiology and intensive care of the ninety-fifth clinical hospital. It seems that everything is being done as it should be, but patients die here four times more often than in similar departments of other Moscow hospitals... Department staff explain what is happening in different ways. He diligently searches for the reason, and those who search will always find. This is not a detective story or a medical thriller, although elements of both are present.
