Eva, the wife of a prominent businessman and famous philatelist Sammy Sterling, is kidnapped. In exchange for her return, the criminals demand from Sterling the priceless stamp "Black Head of Chalons" with the image of Queen Victoria. An attempt by the police to slip a counterfeit stamp to the kidnappers ends tragically - the counterfeit is discovered and Eve Sterling is brutally murdered. The investigation of the case is entrusted to the talented detective Katie Colla and her old friend and teacher David Brock. Very soon they come to an unexpected conclusion: the kidnapping scam may have been planned by Eve herself. But then why was she removed? And who is behind the murder?..
