Arkady Timofeevich Averchenko (1881–1925) - Russian writer, satirist, theater critic. The influence he had on Russian satire and humor is enormous. This influence, conscious or unconscious, recognized or rejected, was embodied in words, images, and plots in such different writers as Mich. Zoshchenko, Pant. Romanov, Ilf and Petrov, Gr. Gorin...Today we are clearly convinced that the highest court - the court of time - Averchenko's work has stood. Because in his best works, the teacher, with grace and outward simplicity, revealed the deep layers of the human soul and human relations in society, because he drew attention to those social vices and moral flaws that have remained in humanity for thousands of years and, of course, will continue to remind us for a long time about oneself - envy, servility, slander, meanness, lies, unscrupulousness, acquisitiveness, lust for power.
