John Dee, a famous scientist with a reputation as a sorcerer and a friend of Queen Elizabeth of England, receives an important task from her. He must go to the city of Glastonbury, in the heart of the mysterious Avalon, in order to find one of the most ancient British relics there - the remains of the legendary King Arthur. The young reforming queen thus wants to strengthen her power and the new Protestant faith. However, Dr. Dee is perplexed.
