Taras Prokhasko (b. 1968) - “Ukrainian Marques”, one of the representatives of the so-called “Stanislav phenomenon” in modern Ukrainian literature. “Stanislav” is the ancient name of Ivano-Frankivsk, the writer’s homeland, an ancient Carpathian city, in the scenery of which most of his novels and short stories take place. A biologist by training, Prokhasko subtly feels and recreates in his prose the poetics of his native Galician landscape, its strange, slightly fantastic atmosphere, making the reader remember the Baroque era, feel the magical charm of the ancient village theater - “raika” and, at the same time, plunge into melancholy Austro-Hungarian culture of the Biedermeier era and the Viennese Secession.
