Claude Farrer (real name Frédéric Bargon, 1876–1957) was a naval officer and French writer, author of numerous “exotic” novels and novels of sea adventures. The weakness of a woman and the strength of a man, love-game, love-whim, love-temptation and love that is “strong as death” - this is the melody of the writer’s novels and stories included in the collection.

“Young Lady Dax” - a novel of “education of feelings” and “lost illusions” by Alice Dax. From cloudy Lyon we follow the heroes to the Swiss Alps and Monte Carlo - romantic walks under the moon, tender hugs and passionate kisses, a duel when the lady's honor is at stake. “Young lady Dax closed her eyes to better imagine this alley where her fate had just been decided... With her eyelids closed, she saw the twilight landscape. The trees extended their autumn branches. The soil is strewn with yellow and white leaves. Then her shoulders trembled under the soft caress of the hand hugging them... And an infinitely gentle voice whispered a delightful phrase: “Don’t you know that you are beautiful?..”
