The fairy tale "The Frog Princess" is essentially a thriller. It is about death and immortality, about murder and resurrection, about the eternal confrontation between fathers and sons, which ends in death. In folklore, a harsh ending is a common occurrence: evil must be punished. However, the author finds more compelling reasons for the murder of Koshchei the Immortal, and in addition, offers other options for resolving the generational conflict using the example of Baba Yaga and her daughter Ponedelya. The fairy tale teaches us to understand and forgive each other. The main character is, of course, Ivan, for the story revolves around him: during the journey, the prince, with a bright soul, wins the favor of everyone he meets, and the crown of the tale is his willingness to sacrifice himself so that the women enchanted by Koshchei will return home to their children. The decoration of the fairy tale is both mythological components and allusions to other fairy tales (“At the command of the pike”, “Sivka-Burka”, “The Little Princess”), as well as to modernity (an apple on a saucer is a prototype of an iPhone).
