Vaslav Nijinsky. His life, his work, his thoughts
after payment (24/7)

More often than not, art takes us to extremes; it is merciless and in love with death. In a televised interview in 1961, Celine said: “I spread my skin on the table because—don’t forget one thing—death brings incredible inspiration. If you don't put your own skin on the table, you won't succeed. You'll have to pay." For a true artist, the passion for the depth and power of the image overpowers the instinct of self-preservation. Nijinsky lined theater stages with his skin. He experienced a rapid ascent to a singular goal, to infinity, and after that an even more rapid fall. The climax was immediately followed by a crash: it even seemed that it had been mysteriously inherent in him from the very beginning, so such an end was inevitable for the dancer’s fate. As Stefan Zweig wrote: “He whose life is a tragedy dies as a hero.”
