The book by Professor Gennady Barabtarlo, the best translator of the works of V.V. Nabokov into Russian, sets the task of describing them in their entirety - as chapters of one whole, exploring not only the “equipment of verbal expressiveness”, but also the “power of searching thought” of these works. In a conscientious effort to reveal the metaphysical and moral content of creativity, the theory of art and philosophy of the outstanding Russian writer of the 20th century, G. A. Barabtarlo has no equal. According to Omri Ronen, not a single annotated edition of Nabokov today can do without extensive references to the works of this philologist.

On the cover: Cornell University in the town of Ithaca, in upstate New York, above Cayuga Lake. In the building, barely visible because of the fog, where mysterious traces lead, there was the office of Professor Nabokov, and there, in a large auditorium, he taught courses on European and Russian literature to students in the 1950s.
