The book of the modern Russian historian Dmitry Abramov is named by analogy with Gumilev’s “Millennium around the Caspian Sea”. The author, in an accessible, but by no means simplified form, tells the history of war and peace of the states located on the Black Sea shores, and above all the history of the Northern Black Sea region, Crimea. Over the course of thirteen centuries, he traces the peaceful relations and military clashes of nomadic and sedentary peoples who once inhabited these lands. The book is addressed primarily to a wide range of school and university teachers, students specializing in the field of international relations with the countries of South-Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and the Middle East , journalists, ethnographers and other specialists.
