In Georgia it is customary to look for poetry. And it is there, and it is genuine. And this is very rare. On this land, the eternal shines through in the everyday, melting into beauty and style. Guram Svanidze creates strong and honest prose here. The Georgian writer has found an accessible way to talk about people, about their relationships with each other, with nature, with history and with today. He does not give out recipes for happiness, salvation algorithms or scripts for extracting joy from existence. His stories are not a jumble of pictures of the past through which the golden age beckons. These are parables, ironic and truly kind, from which the heart aches and takes the breath away. The writer sees the true - and therefore does not contrast black and white, physical and mental. He draws the line between the genuine and the mirage, leaving behind the brackets the phantom dichotomies with their protracted quarrel. He understands the place of man in the world and stops protesting it. As if echoing the biblical Ecclesiastes, he chooses the middle path - to find his measure and trust it in order to breathe in and feel happiness. There is a lot of energy in this prose: it will not leave anyone empty and indifferent, it will give impetus to the work of the soul.
