Jun Fosse is an outstanding contemporary Norwegian playwright, writer and poet, essayist and translator of fiction. Honorary Doctor of the University of Bergen, holds a BA in Philosophy and Sociology and a PhD in Literary Studies. Fosse published his first novel in 1983, his first collection of poems in 1986, and wrote his first play, “Someone’s About to Come,” in 1992. To date, Fosse is the author of about 14 novels (the most important of which were “Melancholia I” ( 1995), “Melancholia II” (1996), “Morning and Evening” (2000), a series of novels “Trilogy” (2007-2015)), nine poetry collections and 37 plays. Fosse can be called a kind of “calling card” of Norwegian theater abroad. The playwright is compared to the great Henrik Ibsen, and the number of plays produced by Jun Fosse around the world has broken all records. It was directed by such outstanding European directors as Thomas Ostermeier, Claude Regis, Falk Richter, Eirik Stube. On the Russian stage, Fosse's dramas were staged by Vladimir Klimenko (Klim), Yuri Butusov, Farid Bikchantaev, Alexey Slyusarchuk, Alexander Ogarev, Joel Lehtonen, Kari Holtan.
