Dmitry Shchedrovitsky is a well-known biblical scholar, the author of a multi-volume “Introduction to the Old Testament”, works on the history and philosophy of Judaism, Christianity and Islam - and at the same time an amazing poet of the neoclassical movement. His work is characterized by “condensed” metaphors, which allows him to convey the features of the original mystical and philosophical worldview, and by a wealth of cultural and historical associations. The poems have repeatedly received high praise from critics and have been included in collections of the best works of Russian poetry, some of which have been set to music. He owns translations of English (J. Donne, Shakespeare, etc.), German (Heine, Rilke, etc.), Lithuanian poetry, hymns of Qumran, Arabic and Hebrew poets, Persian Sufis (Rumi’s book of parables). Love and history, nature and mythology, ecstasy and reflection, clothed in the poetic word, appear in the poems of D. Shchedrovitsky in their original, indissoluble unity. The book was published in printed form in 2012 by the Vremya publishing house. The book includes selected works from many years.
