The first part of the autobiographical trilogy - “The Tale of Childhood” (1949; USSR State Prize, 1950), “Volnitsa” (1950; USSR State Prize, 1951), “Dashing Hours” (1954), in which the author largely continued Gorky's traditions. Deep knowledge of people's life allowed the writer to create vivid images of the peasants and workers of pre-revolutionary Russia, to affirm the greatness of their work, and to show the awakening of the people. The language of autobiographical stories is rich, clear, poetic, and full of folk sayings.
