The novel “Cement” by the famous writer Fyodor Gladkov (1883–1958) is a significant milestone in the history of Soviet literature. For the first time, the creative work of workers, the creative efforts of the team in building socialism, new relationships in the family and everyday life were reflected in it. Alexander Serafimovich highly praised the novel as “the first broad canvas of a revolutionary country under construction, the first artistically generalized reproduction of the revolutionary construction of a nascent way of life.”
