The book by Jeremy Black, a famous scientist and professor at the University of Exeter, covers the history of the British Isles from ancient times to the present day. The British Isles are not only England, but also Scotland, Ireland and Wales. The author believes that the picture of English history outside the context of the internal relationships of all the islands of the British archipelago suffers from incompleteness. Britain has never been an ethnically homogeneous state; it was this circumstance that left its mark on the entire history of this country and ultimately led to the emergence of the Great British Empire. Considering the political, social, economic and cultural aspects of the history of Great Britain, the English historian pays special attention to the influence of the internal relations of various parts of the country on the foreign policy of this state.
